Founded in 1890 by the Seaboard Air Line Railway, Lilburn, GA was originally known as “McDaniel.” It was renamed after railroad superintendent Lilburn Trigg Myers from Virginia. Though this name change wasn’t officially documented then, researchers confirmed it in the 1990s.
Lilburn, GA thrived and gained incorporation on July 27, 1910. However, a devastating fire and economic hardships during the 1920s halted its prosperity. Today, a revitalization effort has brought new life to its historic area. The Old Town district now offers shopping and restaurants amidst charming historical surroundings.
